why this image?
Because it says a little something about me, Ray Bauer.
This is my Sugino 53/39 crankset on my 1980 Fuji Gran Tourer SE bicycle. Though a little worn it still spins smoothly and has moved me along thousands of miles of pavement. In my youth I found great pleasure spending the day on two wheels.
Search Engine Optimization
Commonly referred to as SEO, search engine optimization is a critical element to any marketing strategy. After all, if you can’t be found by potential customers or decision-makers when they do a Google search, it doesn’t matter how nice your website or other online material is.
Essentially, SEO is what allows you to appear on a page when a user types keywords into a browser. It should be the goal of every company to appear not only on the first search engine results page (SERP) when their most relevant keywords are searched for, but ultimately to get within the top 3 positions.
There are many things that can be done to help you appear on the first SERP. Some are basic, some are extremely involved. Most companies only need the basics which include things like a website that has a good SEO foundation built into it (appropriate text, keywords, descriptive tags etc), a basic social media (media channel) presence that is attended to regularly, and a solid citation presence.
Optimizing a website (and other SEO branches) is ever changing. You should be reviewing your website analytics and make adjustments. You should keep an eye on your competition’s site and do periodic keyword searches to monitor your SERP results. Plus, as Google changes their search parameters and algorithms, online marketers and companies should tweak their SEO tactics. I’m constantly monitoring technological trends and implementing current tactics to best serve my clients.
